Shawn & Gladys Dance Academy
Born into a family of dancers, Gladys fell in love with dance at a very young age. She was mesmerized by the graceful and expressive dance moves of her parents, Steven and Vivien Kok, both accomplished professional dance champions. Together with her husband Shawn Tay, the pair was a force to be reckoned with in the industry and took the competitive dance (dance sport) scene by storm with 20 title wins from 1982 to 1994.
The Shawn & Gladys Dance Academy is the love child of the pair. Founded in 1986, it has now grown to become Singapore’s most established DanceSport academy. Staying true to his roots, Shawn is the first person to introduce DanceSport into Singapore’s ballroom dancing scene. Besides ballroom, the academy offers a wide range of dance styles (Latin, Standard, Social) and even Yoga lessons! All are welcomed, even beginners and children as young as three years old. The pair believes that anyone can be – A Star For A Day, A Champion For Life.
