Singapore, 27th September 2024 – Shifu Food Court at Bras Basah Complex, a beloved spot since 2001, will officially reopen on October 9th, 2024, following an extensive $350,000 renovation. Spanning 498 square meters and hosting 14 stalls, Shifu offers both indoor and outdoor dining options, catering to up to 430 guests. With its 24/7 operating hours, the revamped food court promises to deliver a nostalgic yet modern culinary experience for locals and tourists alike.
The alfresco dining area is designed with brightly colored furnishings, tropical plants, and fairy lights, evoking the vibrant ambiance of old street food stalls. Inside, heritage-themed décor such as light boxes and neon signage illuminates the space, recreating the charm of shophouse windows. Whether seated indoors or outdoors, guests can enjoy an authentic Singaporean dining atmosphere with a touch of artistic flair.
Richard Lee, Owner of Shifu Food Court said, “Shifu is all about celebrating what makes Singapore unique – its heritage and creativity. We’ve designed it to blend our culture with a modern touch, and I’m proud to showcase how we highlight our local talents in the art scene as well. It’s a place where the old meets the new, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the special atmosphere we’ve created at Shifu.”
Shifu Food Court offers a diverse range of culinary delights, blending modern twists with traditional flavors. Ah Gong KKM serves fusion-style instant noodles with fresh ingredients, while Penang Island delivers authentic Malaysian dishes like Char Kway Teow and Assam Laksa. Chun Noodle Bar adds a gourmet spin to wonton noodles, featuring a truffle variation, and YuKi Congee provides comforting Chinese porridge with savory toppings. Sultan Curry Indian Muslim Cuisine offers an array of Indian classics, while Ding Ji Teochew Noodle House is renowned for its bak chor mee and laksa. Shifu Café stands out by offering affordable barista-style coffee, making it a perfect spot for office workers seeking a quick caffeine fix.
Shifu goes beyond food, highlighting Singapore’s cultural richness with local music, traditional displays, and a special collaboration with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) students. The food court features murals of iconic local landmarks, created by NAFA students, turning the space into a gallery celebrating local creativity. Owner Richard Lee expressed pride in blending Singapore’s heritage with modern elements, aiming to create a hub where food and art come together.
In addition to the diverse food offerings, Shifu Food Court has partnered with local educational institutions to offer special promotions. Students from Singapore Management University (SMU), NAFA, and LASALLE College of the Arts will enjoy discounts of up to 20% and free WiFi, making Shifu a prime spot for studying and dining.
